“No Such Thing As Vampires” – When a series of vampire-style murders plague L.A., immortal investigator Mick St. John (O’Loughlin) sets out to find the culprits and re-connects with a woman, Internet reporter Beth Turner (Myles), from his past at a crime scene, on the series premiere of MOONLIGHT, Friday, Sept. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Mick St. John is a captivating, charming- and immortal- private investigator from Los Angeles who defies the traditional blood-sucking norms of his vampire tendencies by using his wit and powerful supernatural abilities to help the living. In a life-altering twist of fate, Mick was “bitten” 60 years ago by his new bride, the seductive Coraline. Forever 30 years of age, Mick’s as handsome and charismatic as the day he was “turned,” and he eschews others of his kind who view humans only as a source of nourishment. With only a handful of like-minded confidantes for company, including the eternally young, wealthy and mischievous Josef, a hedge fund trader who relishes his uniqueness, Mick fills his infinite days protecting the living. But one night years ago, a single act of kindness changed Mick when he saved a young girl’s life, making him want to be a better vampire. Now their paths cross again and Mick develops a distinctive bond with Beth Turner who has grown into a beautiful, ambitious Internet investigative reporter. Reconnecting with her unleashes feelings Mick knows he can’t pursue without exposing the part of him that would make him a monster in Beth’s eyes. As Mick lives between two realities, fighting his adversaries among the undead and falling in love, he discovers the mysteries and pleasures that a valuable life has to offer.

Spoilers

Added 8.15.07:

The episode will introduce Steve Balfour and Maureen Williams. Both will be recurring characters. Steve is Beth’s cameraman at Buzzwire. As for Maureen, she is a news editor at Buzzwire. If you recall, I told you that the episode would focus on Christian, a psychology professor teaching about vampires and who controls a small cult. Some of his cult members will react differently to him. He’ll be protected by student Daniel, who is also Christian’s teaching assistant. He highly believes in the blood cult and he is not as nice as he appears to be. Another student will be Chloe. She has rebelled from the cult and accuses Christian of a death. The episode will also feature Martha, Christian’s wife. She knows that her husband thinks he is a vampire but makes fun of it. She knows she should divorce him but stays just to see him fall. We will see flashback’s of Beth’s life including one where we see her mother ask for Mick to get Beth back after she was kidnapped.

Added 8.8.07:

Beth and Mick investigate a series of murders in Los Angeles.

Beth is a reporter for an internet news website, BuzzwireNews.com. She works with Steve, her cameraman, and website editor Maureen, a tough, funny lesbian. Mick is an independent private investigator.

One of the murder victims is a student at Pacifica State.

The episode features a group of wannabe vampires, probably relating to the title of this episode. The murder victim mentioned above may be connected to this group.

Coraline is seen in the episode in flashbacks, which also feature Mick.

It appears that Mick, Coraline and Beth are tied to their past, but Beth is possibly unaware of the connection.

Beth and a character named Lieutenant Carl Davis bond in their pursuit of the truth regarding the murders, and trade information.

Beth must go undercover to investigate a cult at Pacifica State. Given the murder mysteries and the wannabe vampires in the episode, the cult in question is probably that of the wannabe vampires.

Beth has been having some nightmares, about a fire she was in as a little girl (seen in the show’s trailers).

Seen in flashbacks, Mick is hired as a private investigator to find a woman’s abducted daughter.

Mick offers Guillermo a few 20 dollar bills to check out the body of one of the murder victims.

Rudolf Martin guest stars as Professor Christian Ellis, a professor at Pacifica State. Christian is the ringleader of wannabe vampires. He also seems to be unfaithful to his wife, Martha.
